Question 1.8: Ionic solids conduct electricity in molten state but not in solid state. Explain.

Answer
The constituent particles of ionic solid are not free to move in solid state. Therefore ionic solid are insulator in solid phase. Ions becomes free to move in molten state so ionic solid can conduct electricity in molten state.
